WHO WE ARE

Minorities in Pre-Law is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting the needs of minority students hoping to enter the legal field, increasing the number of minority students that go on to work in the legal field, and helping students excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

Law is the least diverse profession in the United States, largely due to unequal access to legal education and many racial minorities, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ finding themselves intimidated by a profession that has been historically exclusive toward them. We aim to act as the gateway between minority students and their futures in law by working with our branch student organizations to connect students with discounts on legal exam preparation, internships and mentorships, encouraging minority students to pursue judicial careers, and more!

We currently have branches at the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa, and are working to continue expanding and promoting diversity in the face of adversity across Florida and the United States.

Learn more about us today by exploring our site and attending events with our student organizations. We are looking forward to meeting you and having you be a part of our wonderful community!

WHERE CAN YOU FIND US?

Minorities in Pre-Law currently has two branch organizations in the state of Florida:

MINORITIES IN PRE-LAW AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA

Our first organization started at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Since its foundation in Summer 2020, our USF branch has worked to create a number of our programs, including the Law School Library Database and providing its students with over $1100 in discounts on LSAT preparation. MPL at USF recently became the university's largest pre-law student organization and has expanded to host its own Women in Pre-Law Committee.

MINORITIES IN PRE-LAW AT
THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA

MPLat UT is our most recent student organization, founded in Fall 2020. Our UT branch is working to host a number of social and educational programs to inform minority students at UT with information on the legal field and the struggles of minority lawyers.
